Conference The 3Rs and NAMs: all inclusive?

The Transitie Proefdiervrije Innovatie programme office and the 3Rs Centre Utrecht organised, together with TPI Utrecht and the Nationaal Comité advies dierproevenbeleid (NCad), the international conference 'The 3Rs and NAMs: all-inclusive?' on 19 June 2024. The conference aimed to connect the NAMs network and  the 3Rs network, exploring the best way forward for human-oriented biomedical basic and translational science.

Respectful dialogue and connection

On 19 June, more than 170 people from the various networks of animal testing and non-animal innovation gathered in Media Plaza of the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. More than 70 people also joined online. Together, we explored the best way forward for human-based biomedical and translational science.

Broad representation

The various sectors were well represented, by researchers working with NAMs (New Approach Methodologies) and 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement of animaltesting), participants from the regulatory field, policymakers, NGOs and industry figures. Both national and international networks were represented. Many young professionals were also present at the event.
